Tutorial: How to Create a Google Business Profile

Step 1: Go to Google Business Profile

  • On your phone or computer browser, visit:
    ???? https://www.google.com/business/

  • Click “Sign in” (top right corner).

  • Log in using your Google (Gmail) account.

    • If you don’t have one, create a new Gmail account first.

???? Step 2: Enter Your Business Name

  • In the search box, type your business name — e.g., Mama Ada Food Spot.

  • If Google doesn’t find it, click “Add your business to Google.”

Then fill in:

  • Business name: Mama Ada’s Food Spot

  • Business category: choose something close like Restaurant, Home Food Service, Catering, or Takeout Restaurant.

Click Next.

???? Step 3: Add a Business Location

You’ll be asked:

“Do you want to add a location customers can visit, like a shop or office?”

If you have a physical place where customers can pick up food:

  • Select Yes and enter your address.

If you only do deliveries:

  • Select No → then add your service areas (e.g., Ikeja, Surulere, Yaba).

Click Next.

???? Step 4: Add Contact Information

Fill in:

  • Phone number (WhatsApp number works fine).

  • Website (optional — you can use your Facebook page, WhatsApp link, or landing page).

???? If you don’t have a website, choose “I don’t have a website” — you can add it later.

Click Next.

???? Step 5: Verify Your Business

To show your business publicly, Google must confirm it’s real.
You can verify by:

  • Phone or text message: (fastest if available)

  • Email: (if Google gives that option)

  • Postcard by mail: (takes 5–12 days; you’ll get a code sent to your address)

After receiving your code, return to your Google Business dashboard and enter the verification code.

???? Step 6: Add Business Details

Once verified, you can edit your profile and add:

  • Business hours: (e.g., 9:00am – 7:00pm daily)

  • Description:
    Example:

“Mama Ada’s Food Spot offers freshly made local dishes and quick delivery within Ikeja. Order via WhatsApp for fast home service!”

  • Photos: Add 3–5 clear pictures of your meals, workspace, or logo.

  • Logo: Upload your business logo if you have one.

  • Cover image: Use a nice wide photo showing your food or setup.

???? Step 7: Add WhatsApp or Ordering Link

To help customers reach you easily:

  • In your business info, add a “Booking link” or “Menu link.”
You can paste your WhatsApp click-to-chat link, e.g.
    ???? https://wa.me/2348012345678

You can also add your catalog link if using WhatsApp Business Catalog.

???? Step 8: Check How It Appears on Google

After setup, search on Google:

Mama Ada’s Food Spot
or
home food near me

If your area has similar listings, your business should begin to appear within a few days — especially after verification and a few customer reviews.

  2. ???? Ask happy customers to leave Google reviews — it boosts your visibility.

  3. ???? Keep your hours accurate (Google ranks consistent businesses higher).
